DESIGNER | MAKER | FOUNDER | OWNER
A multi-disciplinary creative, Laura Cornman has learned and worked in a wide variety of mediums from painting and graphic design, to carving and fine-woodworking.
Laura launched her most recent venture, SETTLEWELL, in the Spring of 2016. This collection of work is an exploration of the innovative qualities of concrete and an ongoing effort to push the boundaries of its application. Laura has set out to discover just how closely concrete can participate in the functionality and delicate nature of classic homeware.
Laura's unique concrete casting process begins with carefully hand-carved and/or prepared positives from which she crafts her own specialized and carefully designed molds. Each item is then cast individually with unique concrete mixtures and pigment blends to insure that each item is considered, prepared, and crafted as thoughtfully as the next.
Laura graduated from Biola University with a BFA in 2010. She now lives and works in Long Beach, CA.
