About

A NEW KIND OF CLASSIC

SETTLEWELL is a collection of useful, simple and thoughtfully hand-crafted concrete home goods. Pieces that enable and support the construction of simple spaces that are filled with meaning.

We're about fostering moments of contentment. We're about decluttering, de-stressing and de-complicating. We're about the joy of discipline and the discipline of joy. We're about making the most with what we have, and making something extraordinary from nothing... or at least... from very little.

SETTLEWELL concrete goods are hand-crafted from start to finish. Our unique casting process begins with hand-carved and prepared positives from which we have created our own carefully designed, handmade molds. We mix, pigment and pour each item individually to be certain that each piece is crafted as thoughtfully as the next. We finish our pieces with environmentally-friendly sealers to insure that they are able to withstand use and usefulness in our home and yours.

Our hard-won, specialized process enables us to pour pieces with the strength of concrete and the delicate form of classic homeware.

Sincerity as a standard, goods for living.

Wherever you are, settle well.

LAURA CORNMAN

DESIGNER | MAKER | FOUNDER | OWNER

A multi-disciplinary creative, Laura Cornman has learned and worked in a wide variety of mediums from painting and graphic design, to carving and fine-woodworking.

Laura launched her most recent venture, SETTLEWELL, in the Spring of 2016. This collection of work is an exploration of the innovative qualities of concrete and an ongoing effort to push the boundaries of its application. Laura has set out to discover just how closely concrete can participate in the functionality and delicate nature of classic homeware.

Laura's unique concrete casting process begins with carefully hand-carved and/or prepared positives from which she crafts her own specialized and carefully designed molds. Each item is then cast individually with unique concrete mixtures and pigment blends to insure that each item is considered, prepared, and crafted as thoughtfully as the next.

Laura graduated from Biola University with a BFA in 2010. She now lives and works in Long Beach, CA.
